Job Opportunity

We are looking for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon to become part of our hospital-based practice. The preferred candidate will have completed a fellowship in sports medicine, showcasing proficiency in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, along with a desire to broaden services to include elbow and hip arthroscopy. This position presents a fantastic chance to develop a sought-after sports medicine program within a well-established orthopedic team, backed by a robust referral network.

Compensation Package

We offer two compensation options:

• Option 1: A base salary of $685,202* (50th percentile MGMA for recent graduates), with additional earnings based on experience, guaranteed for two years. This can transition to a wRVU production contract once targets are surpassed.
• Option 2: A base salary of $908,411* (75th percentile MGMA), guaranteed for one year, followed by a switch to a wRVU production contract.

*Note: A 5% reduction applies for those who are not yet board certified, with salary adjustments made upon certification.

Contract Benefits

• Vacation: 29 days of paid time off (PTO), with an additional 5 days of PTO for achieving 75th percentile wRVUs.
• CME/Books & Journals: 5 days of PTO and up to $5,000 for continuing medical education.
• Deferred Compensation: 457b plan allowing deferral of compensation up to the IRS limit of $23,500 annually before taxes, with no matching contributions.
• Retirement/Savings Plan: 403b plan permitting deferral of compensation up to the IRS limit of $23,500 for those under 50, and $31,000 for those over 50, with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 2% of base salary.
• Relocation Assistance: $10,000 provided for moving expenses.
• Malpractice Insurance: Coverage under a claims-made policy, offering $2,000,000 per claim and $6,000,000 in aggregate.
• Health Insurance: Minimal premium paid by the physician, deducted from paychecks.
• Liquidated Damages: A non-compete clause of 70 miles for two years, or liquidated damages equivalent to one year’s salary.
• Bonus Opportunities: Attractive bonus incentives up to 10% of salary.
• Medical School Loan Repayment: Up to $200,000 ($25,000 per year for each year of service commitment).
• Sign-On Bonus: 15% of base salary, capped at $100,000, payable upon contract signing and forgiven over 2-4 years based on the bonus amount.
• Residency/Fellowship Stipend: Up to $25,000 paid in quarterly installments during the final two years of training.

Practice InformationLocation and Schedule

Our practice is located at the Orthopedic Associates facility. Office hours are:

• Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM

No evening or weekend hours are required.

Staffing and Call Schedule

The practice consists of:

• 6 providers
• 8 clinical staff members (CMA, LPN, Orthopedic Technicians)
• 4 front office personnel
• 2 surgery schedulers
• Radiology and athletic training support

The call schedule is 1:4, with a patient load of 25-40 patients per day in the clinic. Office procedures include joint injections, aspirations, pin removals, and cast applications/removals, with 4-8 procedures performed daily in the hospital.

Sports Medicine Focus

This role offers the chance to lead and expand the sports medicine service line. The ideal candidate will perform advanced procedures such as:

• Shoulder and knee arthroscopy
• Complex ligament reconstruction and/or revision
• Meniscal debridement and repair
• Chondroplasty and cartilage restoration
• Rotator cuff and labral repairs
• Elbow and hip arthroscopy as additional services

Trauma and Joint Replacement Surgery

While not a designated trauma center, we manage a steady volume of community trauma cases, including:

• Long bone, periarticular, pediatric, periprosthetic, and hand/foot fractures
• Common proximal humerus and hip fractures
• Most open fractures and complex pelvic/acetabular trauma are referred out

There is also an opportunity to perform primary and revision joint arthroplasty, including:

• Knee, hip, and shoulder replacements
• Collaboration with a fellowship-trained arthroplasty specialist
• Potential for elbow arthroplasty services

Additional Services

Current hand surgery services include:

• Carpal and cubital tunnel release
• Management of compression neuropathies
• Soft tissue mass excisions and thumb CMC arthroplasty

There are opportunities to expand into flexor tendon repair, Dupuytren’s contracture management, and ligamentous wrist repair.

Pediatric and Foot & Ankle Surgery

While there are no inpatient pediatric cases, outpatient pediatric sports procedures are desired, including:

• Knee and shoulder arthroscopy
• Patellofemoral realignment
• Management of chondral lesions
• Fracture care and benign lesion excision

Most foot and ankle procedures are currently managed by in-house podiatrists, but orthopedic collaboration is encouraged, particularly in:

• Ankle arthroscopy
• Ligament repair/reconstruction
• Chondral lesion management

Spine and Equipment

No spine surgeries are performed in-house; cases are referred to regional neurosurgeons, supported by on-site pain management services.

Our facilities are equipped with:

• Cast saw and x-ray in the office
• Computers in every room, CPMs, patient lifts, air mats for safe patient handling, Hana table, Wixon, Beach chair, peg board positioning devices in surgery, mini C-arm, and standard C-arm in the hospital.
