Senior Risk Manager

A leading investment firm is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to oversee market and investment risk across a multi-strategy, event-driven investment platform. This is a high-impact, standalone role with direct exposure to portfolio managers, investment teams, and senior leadership. The ideal candidate will bring deep buy-side risk experience, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This individual will play a critical role in developing risk frameworks, analyzing portfolio exposures, and providing actionable insights to support investment decisions. What You’ll Do: Own risk management across multiple portfolio teams, ensuring risk frameworks align with investment strategies and objectives Establish and enforce risk guidelines across a diverse set of portfolios and asset classes Monitor evolving market conditions and identify potential risks and vulnerabilities Perform detailed analysis of new and existing positions at the trade, position, and portfolio level Evaluate exposures, risk factors, and potential downside scenarios in real time Partner directly with Portfolio Managers to understand risk drivers and support investment decisions Develop and maintain event-driven risk scenarios tailored to current market environments Assess portfolio sensitivities and potential outcomes across various market conditions Provide detailed P&L attribution and performance decomposition, including intraday and historical analysis Support portfolio construction through risk budgeting, allocation analysis, and portfolio guideline development Deliver insights that help optimize risk‑adjusted returns Reporting & Communication Present risk assessments, exposures, and recommendations to Portfolio Managers and senior leadership Develop executive‑level reporting on firmwide risk and portfolio exposures Communicate complex risk concepts clearly and effectively across investment teams Build and maintain risk reports, dashboards, and analytical tools used by investment teams Research and implement improvements to risk methodologies, analytics, and allocation frameworks Leverage tools such as Python, SQL, or similar technologies to enhance risk processes What We’re Looking For: 7+ years of experience in market risk, investment risk, or portfolio risk within a hedge fund, family office, asset manager, or similar buy‑side environment Strong understanding of event‑driven and special situations investing and related risk dynamics Experience analyzing portfolio exposures, risk factors, and investment strategies at a detailed level Hands‑on experience with risk modeling, portfolio analytics, and developing custom risk tools Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with Portfolio Managers and senior leadership Ability to work independently and take ownership in a lean, high‑accountability environment Technical proficiency with data analysis tools; Python, SQL, or similar experience is a plus This is an opportunity to take ownership of firmwide risk management within a sophisticated investment platform and work closely with investment professionals to shape risk processes, analytics, and decision‑making. #J-18808-Ljbffr
