Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Worker Job Description
This role focuses on shipping, receiving, and material handling within a busy warehouse and manufacturing environment. You will receive and store incoming materials, prepare outgoing shipments, support inventory control, and ensure products move efficiently and safely through the distribution center.
Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and store incoming inventory items in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
• Perform quality control checks on incoming and outgoing shipments to verify product accuracy, quantity, and integrity.
• Operate shipping equipment and systems to safely transport, process, and verify materials within the warehouse.
• Locate, pick, and gather products for distribution to production workers, assembly lines, or shipping areas.
• Assist with inventory management by tracking, counting, and updating inventory records, including cycle counts.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area, consistently following all safety standards, rules, and regulations.
• Handle materials efficiently and safely, including loading, unloading, and staging products for production or shipment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members to coordinate workflow and meet production and shipping deadlines.
• Follow established procedures for shipping and receiving documentation and system updates.
• Support overall warehouse operations as needed to ensure smooth daily activities and on-time deliveries.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of shipping and receiving experience; 2 or more years is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with inventory control and cycle counting in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Material handling experience, including moving, staging, and organizing products and materials.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management processes.
• Knowledge of shipping equipment and shipping systems used in a warehouse or distribution center.
• Understanding of safety standards and protocols in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately verify orders, quantities, and product information.
• High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with forklift operation or other warehouse material handling equipment.
• Background in order pulling and production support within a manufacturing or distribution setting.
• Ability to work effectively across different shifts and adapt to changing production and shipping priorities.
• Comfort using basic warehouse systems and tools to record, track, and verify inventory and shipments.
• Reliable work ethic and strong communication skills to collaborate with team members across departments.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing company's warehouse and distribution center environment. Work takes place in a large warehouse building with active shipping, receiving, and production support operations. Candidates report to either the Orangeburg site or the West Nyack site, which are located close to each other. The facility operates on three primary shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM Sunday through Thursday. There may be a mandatory six-day schedule at times, with weekend work rotating between Saturday one week and Sunday the next. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety standards, proper use of warehouse equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace, with appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing and warehouse setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orangeburg, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
