Commercial General Contractor Estimator


Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000+ DOE


We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator to join a growing General Contractor. This individual will be responsible for leading the estimating process from initial bid review through proposal, while working closely with project management, operations, subcontractors, vendors, and ownership to develop accurate and competitive estimates.


Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual design through final bid.
  
  
• Review construction documents, drawings, specifications, addenda, and scopes of work.
  
  
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
  
  
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids.
  
  
• Develop competitive and accurate bid proposals while identifying project risks and opportunities.
  
  
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors.
  
  
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project turnover meetings.
  
  
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
  
  
• Identify scope gaps, conflicts, exclusions, and potential cost impacts before bids are submitted.
  
  
• Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews.
  
  
• Track market conditions, material pricing, and subcontractor availability.
  
  
• Maintain accurate estimating documentation and project records.
  
  
• Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations to ensure a smooth transition.
  
  
• Support business development efforts and help identify potential project opportunities.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
  
  
• General Contracting experience strongly preferred.
  
  
• Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.
  
  
• Proven ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop complete project estimates.
  
  
• Experience estimating projects from plans and specifications.
  
  
• Strong subcontractor and vendor relationships.
  
  
• Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
  
  
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  
  
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and potential risks.
  
  
• Proficiency with estimating and construction management software.
  
  
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.

Competitive compensation of $120K-$150K+ based on experience, qualifications, and project background.
