It partners closely with cross-functional leaders across Network Planning, Revenue Management, Alliances, IT, and Operations Research to influence high-impact decisions while building and evolving advanced modeling and analytical capabilities that drive enterprise-wide outcomes. The role also leverages modern data tools and frameworks to translate complex analytics into actionable insights, offering strong exposure to network strategy, forecasting, and optimization at scale.What you'll doThis list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.Oversee the development and evolution of network planning tools and systems by partnering with Network Planning and IT to define priorities and translate business needs into technical requirementsCollaborate with Operations Research teams to guide the design, enhancement, and application of forecasting, simulation, and optimization modelsPartner with stakeholders across Network Planning, Alliances, Revenue Management, and other business areas to evaluate scenarios, quantify tradeoffs, and inform network and scheduling decisionsPerform deep-dive data analyses to validate model outputs, assess performance, and investigate key business questionsDesign, develop, and maintain analytical solutions including data pipelines, automation workflows, and user-facing toolsLeverage SQL, Python, and modern data platforms to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of network planning processesEnsure reliability and integrity of data and model outputs through testing, validation, and continuous improvementCommunicate analytical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAll you'll need for successMinimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field2–5 years of relevant experience in analytics, modeling, data science, or related fieldExperience working with data analysis and programming tools such as SQL and PythonExperience performing quantitative analysis, building models, or supporting business decision-makingPreferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job ExperienceAdvanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative fieldExperience in airline industry, network planning, scheduling, or revenue managementFamiliarity with forecasting, simulation, or optimization models and their business applicationsExperience working with Operations Research teams or advanced analytics groupsExperience developing data pipelines, automation workflows, or analytical toolsKnowledge of modern data platforms, cloud environments, or big data frameworksSkills, Licenses & CertificationsProficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and solution developmentStrong data visualization and storytelling skills (e.g., Tableau, Power BI or similar)Knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and optimization techniquesStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentAbility to partner with cross-functional teams and translate business requirements into analytical solutionsWhat you'll getFeel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
