General Laborer

Join a dynamic service and repair shop as a General Laborer, where you will be trained to become a fusion pipe fitter. You will work at wastewater treatment facilities, assisting in setting up water lines, pumps, and wastewater tanks. Your role includes performing general labor, conducting inspections, changing oil, swapping parts, and logging activities. You will be on call as needed and may engage in tasks such as digging or setting HDPE pipes in the ground. Additionally, you may serve as a shop helper, performing regular shop duties like cleanup, driving parts around, and assisting mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up water lines, pumps, and wastewater tanks at treatment facilities.
• Conduct inspections, change oil, and swap parts as necessary.
• Log all maintenance and repair activities accurately.
• Perform digging and setting of HDPE pipes in the ground.
• Assist mechanics with various tasks and regular shop duties.
• Drive company vehicles to sites for parts delivery or repairs as needed.
• Be on call for one week per month, ready to respond to client site repairs.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical inclination with industrial experience.
• Reliability and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
• Experience with pumps, inspections, and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with HDPE, high-density polyethylene materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in mechanics, including oil changes and pump monitoring.
• Extensive manufacturing and construction experience.
• Driving experience.

Work Environment

Work in a small, non-climate controlled shop with a larger yard for spare parts and equipment. The environment is organized but not extremely clean. You will be part of a team of 3 mechanics and 4 warehouse/drivers, along with inside sales and an operations manager. The position is primarily day shift from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with potential on-call duties or Saturday work. Dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, and a work shirt.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pearland, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
