Southeast New Mexico College is seeking a Payroll Manager. The salary range is $57,796.13 - $72,507.54 annually. The position is located in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and is full-time.

The purpose of this position is to plan, manage, supervise, and coordinate all operations and activities of the payroll department. This includes ensuring the accurate and timely processing and disbursement of payroll for all college employees in compliance with institutional policies and state and federal regulations.

Duties and responsibilities include providing overall leadership and management of payroll operations, supervising and supporting payroll staff, overseeing payroll vendor relationships, leading payroll system implementations, establishing and reviewing payroll policies, reviewing and auditing payroll reports, overseeing reconciliation of payroll records, coordinating month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws, collaborating with Human Resources and Finance leadership, overseeing payroll banking activities, and maintaining confidentiality and data security.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include comprehensive knowledge of payroll administration principles, advanced knowledge of federal and state payroll laws, strong leadership and supervisory skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, ability to analyze and apply complex payroll regulations, strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, strong follow-through and attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.

The work environment and physical demands include use of computer and video display terminal for extended periods, reaching and grasping objects, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills, communicating information orally and in writing, receiving and understanding information through oral and written communication, proofreading and checking documents for accuracy, and working a fluctuating schedule.
