Personal Lines Account Manager

Job Summary:

The Personal Lines Account Manager serves as the primary liaison between clients and insurance carriers, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for both. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, supporting sales efforts, and managing a book of business through proactive account management. Key duties include handling quotes, applications, policy changes, claims support, and client inquiries with accuracy and efficiency. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A commitment to ongoing education and staying current on carrier guidelines and industry trends is essential.

Nature and Scope:

Reporting to the Manager, this role operates with a high degree of integrity, accountability, and independent judgment. The Account Manager collaborates with clients, internal departments, and insurance carriers to onboard new business, maintain existing accounts, and maximize utilization of the agency’s programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:

New Client Implementation

• Set up new client accounts in Applied Epic with complete and accurate data
• Prepare and maintain all required documentation, including quotes, applications, declarations, and supporting forms
• Track and manage activities to ensure timely completion of tasks
• Ensure accuracy of policy details, premiums, commissions, and reporting data

Sales & Account Development

• Build and maintain strong client relationships to support retention and cross-selling opportunities
• Identify opportunities for account rounding, referrals, and new business growth
• Evaluate client and prospect coverage, offering competitive solutions based on needs and pricing
• Prepare and present proposals; finalize policy sales
• Utilize Epic and carrier rating tools to deliver accurate and timely quotes
• Secure required signatures and documentation
• Assist with policy transitions, including cancellations of prior coverage

Client Servicing

• Deliver responsive, accurate, and professional service to clients
• Manage policy servicing, including endorsements, billing, cancellations, and documentation requests
• Clearly explain coverage options and policy details to clients
• Proactively manage renewals, including coverage reviews and remarketing when appropriate
• Support clients throughout the claims process
• Provide certificates and proof of insurance to third parties as needed

Team Support

• Support departmental and organizational goals
• Maintain open communication with management, escalating issues as needed
• Foster positive working relationships across departments
• Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Identify and refer cross-selling opportunities to other departments

Accounting & Compliance Support

• Follow agency procedures for handling payments and financial transactions
• Promptly submit checks, receipts, and related documentation
• Report discrepancies or issues immediately for resolution

Operational Excellence

• Adhere to established workflows and procedures to minimize E&O exposure
• Maintain accurate and thorough client records and activity documentation in Epic
• Manage daily workflows and assigned tasks efficiently
• Utilize agency tools (e.g., Glovebox) to enhance client experience and efficiency
• Participate in meetings, training, and special projects as assigned

Industry Knowledge & Development

• Maintain strong knowledge of carrier products, underwriting guidelines, and coverage options
• Stay informed on industry trends and best practices
• Complete continuing education and additional training as required

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• Minimum of 2+ years of Personal Lines insurance experience
• Active Ohio Property & Casualty license required
• CISR designation or equivalent preferred
• Proficiency with Applied Epic, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and carrier platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail with confidential information
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to pass a criminal background check as permitted by law

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm and Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (Hybrid Work Options)
