Sous Chef - Chevy Chase
Ready to lead a kitchen where scratch cooking, organization, and teamwork matter every day? We're looking for a strong Sous Chef to support daily operations in a fast-paced private school dining program to:
- Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff during prep, production, and service
- Ensure all meals are prepared from scratch, consistently, and on time
- Work directly from production sheets to plan, organize, and execute daily food needs
- Manage inventory control, including ordering support, receiving, and stock rotation (FIFO)
- Oversee proper storage, labeling, and organization of all food and supplies
- Maintain food safety, HACCP standards, and sanitation procedures at all times
- Assist with menu execution, catering events, and special functions
- Train and coach staff on proper prep techniques, portioning, and kitchen procedures
- Step in wherever needed to keep service running smoothly and efficiently
Our Ideal Candidate Is:
- A confident Sous Chef with strong leadership and kitchen management skills
- Has experience with production sheets, inventory management, and high-volume prep
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy kitchen
- Comfortable with scratch cooking and maintaining quality and consistency
- A hands-on leader who motivates and supports the team
- Reliable, professional, and calm under pressure
Schedule:
- Monday- Friday
- 7:30 A.M.- 3:00 P.M.
Transportation:
- Free on-campus parking is available.
- Located on the Metro Red Line.
- On the bus line just steps away from Walter Reed Hospital and the NIH.

$26.00 Hourly

Ensure that all food is appropriately displayed and visually appealing.
Interact cheerfully with SAGE guests and Team Members, providing service with a smile.
Oversee the preparation of menu items in strict accordance with both SAGE recipes and HACCP guidelines.
Clean all work areas, equipment, and guest service areas on an ongoing basis.
Assist with inventory and ordering.
Train, motivate, and oversee Cooks and culinary Team Members.
Set a good example each day by being a role model and leader in the kitchen.
Culinary degree or equivalent culinary experience required.
Strong organizational skills required.
Experience delegating tasks and following up with Team Members.
Capacity to train and motivate others.
ServSAFE certification preferred, but not required.
Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in English accurately.
