Schedule: Monday – Friday (7AM to 3PM)

Location: Onsite | Martinsville, VA

Position Type: Full Time

Position Classification: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $32/hr - $44/hr + shift differential

Reports To: Maintenance Superintendent

The Instrument Technician II (Electrical) is essential to maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of our manufacturing operation. This role ensures that electrical systems, instrumentation, and automated controls operate at peak efficiency, minimizing downtime while supporting safe, continuous production. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance, you'll play a key role in troubleshooting complex equipment, improving system reliability, and supporting continuous improvement throughout the facility.

What You'll Do

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize industrial electrical, instrumentation, and automated control systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, PLC, instrumentation, and control system issues.
• Install, calibrate, maintain, and test process instrumentation, including pressure, flow, level, temperature, and analytical devices.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, MCCs, sensors, transmitters, control valves, and related automation equipment.
• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems, including 480-volt power distribution equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Support equipment installations, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow all safety, environmental, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

What You Bring

• Associate degree in Instrumentation, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related technical field preferred; completion of a technical, trade, or apprenticeship program or an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical, instrumentation, or automated control systems.
• Experience in manufacturing, metals processing, mining, chemical processing, or another industrial production environment preferred.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting PLCs, industrial instrumentation, electrical controls, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Experience working with 480-volt industrial electrical systems and associated power distribution equipment.
• Proficiency reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Experience using electrical testing, calibration, and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues independently.
• Working knowledge of industrial electrical codes, safety regulations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Ability to safely perform work in an industrial manufacturing environment, including climbing ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working overtime or emergency assignments when needed.
