Job Brief

Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Buyer for our client. This role is responsible for supporting purchasing activities for our manufacturing and production-support operations. This position manages the complete purchasing cycle for raw materials, manufactured components, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) supplies, subcontracted services, and other operational needs.

What’s a Typical Day Like?

• Manage the complete purchase-order cycle for assigned materials, commodities, and services, including obtaining quotations, creating and transmitting purchase orders, and confirming supplier commitments.
\n
• Work with engineering and marketing to obtain pricing information during the product design and quotation processes.
\n
• Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure delivery, quality, and pricing commitments are met.
\n
• Expedite orders when necessary to support production schedules and operational requirements.
\n
• Manage assigned purchasing programs that support manufacturing and facility operations.
\n
• Serve as the primary supplier contact when quality issues arise with purchased products or services.
\n
• Coordinate the resolution of supplier-related issues, including corrective work, replacement materials, credits, and other appropriate compensation.
\n
• Act as a liaison between suppliers, engineering, production, and other internal departments when changes or problems arise.
\n
• Review supplier performance metrics and help maintain required levels of quality, delivery, service, and pricing.
\n
• Identify and develop new or alternate sources of supply to support current and future business needs.
\n
• Support projects designed to maintain appropriate inventory levels for production and operational requirements.
\n
• Maintain purchasing records and documentation in accordance with internal procedures and quality-management requirements.
\n
• Support inventory management activities for purchased materials and supplies.
\n
• Provide coverage and assistance for other procurement functions as workload requires.
\n

What Are the Requirements of the Job?

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
\n
• Three or more years of purchasing or procurement experience preferred.
\n
• Experience working with ERP or MRP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
\n
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
\n
• Effective written and verbal communication skills when working with suppliers and internal teams.
\n
• Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills.
\n
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
\n
• Basic understanding of applicable industry standards.
\n
• Familiarity with common steel grades, product forms, and basic metallurgical properties is preferred.
\n
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
\n
• Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
\n
• Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
\n
• Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
\n
• Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
