This role involves teaching and training services across general instruction and specialized subjects while collaborating with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders to support student success. Essential Functions Meets and instructs the students in assigned locations and at designated times. Designs coherent instruction based on subject matter knowledge, current instructional practices, student needs, the community, and curriculum goals. Plans instruction to achieve objectives aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines. Prepares for classes assigned and demonstrates lesson preparation upon request from building administrators. Diagnoses individual, group, and program needs and plans appropriate use of time, materials, and resources. Evaluates students' progress, provides specific feedback, maintains records, and prepares progress reports. Uses varied assessment strategies to guide short‑term and long‑term instructional decisions. Administers standardized tests following established procedures. Identifies and communicates student performance expectations. Documents student learning gains with appropriate assessment instruments. Demonstrates an understanding of curriculum, subject, and current instructional practices. Creates meaningful learning experiences for all students. Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board. Acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable. Preferred Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License in a specific endorsement area(s). Prior teaching experience within a public school system.
