Job Title: Part‑Time High School Chemistry Teacher Reports to: WHS Principal Department: Science, Secondary 9-12 Work Year: 184 days per Unit A contract FSLA Status: Exempt, Unit A Salary Range: Unit A Salary Scale Job Goal: The Science Teacher fosters a love of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. Classes include College Prep, Honors, and Advanced Placement levels. Our science program follows the DESE grade‑level curriculum standards and utilizes a variety of resources as instructional materials. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field Professional Certification Required: MA DESE license in 9-12 Science SEI Endorsement Additional certification in special education and/or ESL highly desirable AP Certification preferred Specialized Knowledge: adolescent development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti‑bias instruction, co‑teaching, social‑emotional learning, technology integration Background Checks: CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting. All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory background check per 603 CMR 51.00. Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate. Evaluate and refine instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning, engagement, and confidence. Participate in professional development activities and meets district expectations for licensure recertification. Participates in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district‑wide committees as needed. Any other relative duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Science Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any paraeducators who may be assigned to his/her classroom.
