Overview An exciting opportunity exists to lead the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson during a pivotal period of impact and opportunity. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the organization, serving as the primary partner to the Board of Directors and the chief steward of the mission.Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides visionary, decisive, and ethical leadership to ensure strong organizational performance, financial sustainability, and meaningful outcomes for the youth and families served. This leader must balance strategic planning with hands‑on execution, while inspiring confidence among staff, donors, partners, and the broader community.Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission is to enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The CEO brings this mission to life locally by ensuring high-quality programming, safe and welcoming Club environments, and dedicated professionals who guide youth toward great futures. As a powerful proof point, 54% of Club alumni report the Club saved their life—underscoring the life-changing impact of this role. Responsibilities Organizational Leadership & Strategy Lead the overall planning, direction, and operation of the organization in alignment with the mission and strategic priorities. Design and implement a clear roadmap that balances immediate priorities (first 90–180 days) with a compelling long‑term vision for growth, sustainability, and community impact. Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, collaboration, and excellence across all levels of the organization. Evaluate programs, staffing models, systems, and facilities to ensure effective use of resources and continuous improvement. Board Relations & Governance Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Board of Directors. Support the Board in establishing goals, governance policies, budgets, and strategic priorities. Provide clear, candid, and data‑informed reporting on organizational health, performance, and risks. Strengthen board engagement, effectiveness, and succession through recruitment, orientation, and ongoing development. Financial Stewardship & Resource Development Ensure sound financial management and long‑term fiscal sustainability, including budgeting, cash flow oversight, and financial controls. Lead and actively participate in fundraising and resource development, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and donor re‑engagement. Diversify revenue streams to reduce reliance on limited funding sources. Reinforce credibility with funders through transparency, compliance, and measurable outcomes. Operational Excellence, Safety & Compliance Establish and maintain administrative and operational systems that support efficiency, compliance, and performance excellence. Ensure the organization meets or exceeds all standards and requirements of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, regulatory agencies, and accrediting bodies. Demonstrate that safety is a core organizational value, ensuring robust risk management, training, compliance, and continuous safety improvement across all Club sites. Identify organizational risks and vulnerabilities and implement strategies to mitigate them. Talent & Culture Oversee all staffing functions, including recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning for paid and volunteer staff. Build staff morale by providing stability, clarity, and purpose during periods of change and growth. Develop leaders and teams capable of executing strategy and delivering consistent, high‑quality Club experiences. Community Engagement & Advocacy Serve as the chief ambassador and public face of the organization. Promote Boys & Girls Club programs and impact throughout the community. Build strong partnerships with schools, government entities, businesses, nonprofits, and civic leaders. Advocate for youth development and position the organization as a trusted, valued community resource. Lead public relations and communications that reinforce confidence and visibility. Other Duties Perform special projects as assigned by the Board of Directors. Report directly to the Board of Directors. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in nonprofit management, business administration or a related field preferred. Progressive responsible leadership experience, including as a senior executive or CEO‑level. Proven experience leading organizations through change, growth, turnaround, or stabilization. Demonstrated success in fundraising or revenue generation, financial stewardship, and board relations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong strategic thinking combined with operational execution. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex, multi‑site organizations. Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, asset management, and fiscal discipline. Proven fundraising or revenue generating expertise using both traditional and innovative approaches. Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to inspire and influence diverse stakeholders. Skilled in culture‑building, staff development, decision‑making, negotiation, and problem‑solving. Ability to build and sustain effective relationships with boards, staff, donors, community partners, and regulators.
