Fincantieri Marine Group is hiring for a Buyer in the Purchasing Department at our Marinette, WI location. Position Summary This position is responsible for executing the procurement of goods and services in the shipyard, directly supporting manufacturing operations for the construction of vessels. The Buyer would be the primary contact with suppliers and internal customers in the areas of supplier performance, disposition of hardware, flow of material to yard, RFQ requests, and purchase order placement. This role involves prompt communication of any material shortages or non‑conformances, spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule. Domestic travel may be required. Essential Functions Maintain data integrity and provide timely communication of production shortages affecting production Material ordering and receiving discrepancies, expediting with delivery status of materials and software deliverables, RFQ's, and supplier performance, negotiating with vendors, conducting vendor market research, issuing of Purchase Orders and all related supporting documentation Provide assistance with in‑plant test dates and material disposition, technical assistance of material specifications, contractual advice with terms and conditions, invoice reconciliation, parts and schedule information and clarifying provisioning and technical manual submittals Assist with receiving/inventory discrepancies, procurement inspection reports, order quantities, packaging requirements, material ordering, expediting, and production shortages Other duties as assigned Required Skills Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices preferred Knowledge of SAP‑MRP/ERP, Earned Value Management, and ISO preferred Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 2 Years of experience in a buying or purchasing role for a shipyard, production, or manufacturing environment preferred Competencies Open Mindset: Identify and solve problems, embrace change, and seek continuous learning Strategic Leadership: Build trust, unity, and accountability while working toward shared goals Accomplishment: Take ownership, deliver results, and ensure customer satisfaction Social Connection: Collaborate, communicate, and value diversity and inclusion Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear.
