Job Overview What will you do as a West Coast IT & Operational Technology (OT) Field Technician? Vopak is seeking a proactive, hands‑on Junior to Mid‑Level IT Support / Field Technician to provide on‑site support across our West Coast terminals, covering both IT and OT environments. This dual‑purpose role is critical to maintaining operational continuity. The technician will support the acceleration of IT Workplace Maintenance and Modernization initiatives while also providing foundational OT system support to ensure maximum uptime, system reliability, and regulatory compliance. ID Theft Insurance. Universal Life. Qualifications 2–4 years of hands‑on IT support experience in a field, industrial, or multi‑site environment. Experience supporting Windows endpoints, laptops, peripherals, printers, and mobile devices in a corporate environment. Working knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and familiarity with ITIL‑based incident and request management processes. Experience maintaining asset inventories and configuration data (CMDB exposure preferred). Exposure to network troubleshooting (basic connectivity, switches, VLAN awareness, Wi‑Fi diagnostics). Experience supporting meeting room or collaboration technologies (Google Workspace, conferencing systems, ClickShare, etc.). Familiarity with Active Directory user administration (account provisioning, access management, group membership). Exposure to industrial, operational, or regulated environments (OT, manufacturing, energy, terminals, maritime, etc.) is preferred but not required. Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Alternative: Relevant technical training from a recognized vocational or trade school program. Relevant technical certifications are a plus (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation, Google Workspace, Microsoft, or similar). Competencies Advanced Troubleshooting & Field Support Skills: demonstrates strong hands‑on technical capability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and endpoint issues in a multi‑site operational environment. IT/OT Learning Agility: exhibits high growth potential and willingness to develop foundational knowledge of OT and automation systems (e.g., SCADA, industrial controls) under senior guidance. Continuous Development Mindset: proactively pursues training and certifications to expand expertise in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and OT‑related systems. Operational Ownership & Independence: capable of serving as the primary on‑site IT point of contact, ensuring service continuity, issue follow‑through, and stable terminal operations. Cross‑Functional Communication: communicates clearly and professionally with terminal leadership, end users, and Global IT functional teams, effectively bridging local needs with enterprise standards. Structured Problem Solving Under Pressure: demonstrates the ability to triage incidents quickly, prioritize effectively, and minimize operational downtime in time‑sensitive environments. Security & Compliance Awareness: applies a disciplined, detail‑oriented approach to access control, endpoint governance, and adherence to regulatory and cybersecurity requirements. Daily Responsibilities IT & Project Support On‑Site IT Workplace Support: provide hands‑on support for company desktops, laptops, Chromebox, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals across offices and terminals. Incident, Request & Problem Management (ITIL‑Aligned): manage tickets through ServiceNow (INC, RITM, PRB) in compliance with ITIL processes. IT Asset & Configuration Management (CMDB Accuracy): maintain high‑quality asset data and lifecycle compliance. Meeting Room, Collaboration & AV Technology Support: support Google‑native meeting rooms, Chromebox systems, audiovisual (AV) equipment, and collaboration tools aligned with Vopak Global IT standards. Vendor & Cross‑Functional Coordination: work closely with Global IT functional teams, regional leadership, and third‑party vendors. IT/OT Project & Operational Support: execute additional IT and foundational OT tasks and projects as assigned to support terminal operations, modernization initiatives, and business continuity. Operational Technology (OT) & Cybersecurity Support Provide immediate, hands‑on triage and real‑time incident response for critical OT and IT systems to minimize operational downtime. Assist in the enforcement of OT security protocols, including managing network segmentation and ensuring compliance with maritime security standards. Be responsible for asset management, maintaining an accurate inventory, and managing the lifecycle of critical IT and OT assets. Implement new cybersecurity regulations and ensure full compliance with cybersecurity configurations and standards. Identify and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues across the terminals. Target Compensation $78,000‑$90,000 per year. Work Environment This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements. Extreme heat up to 104°F (40°C) in summer months and cold of no less than 15°F (−10°C) in winter months. Exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells—some hazardous. Employees may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments and must wear PPE required by the location. Normal office noise and moderate vibrations when outside. Physical Demands Regularly required to walk, sit, speak, and hear. Required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. May climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50’ in height and enter confined spaces. May occasionally lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Travel by air, rail, bus, or car may be required.
