THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and functionally to the Group General Counsel, the Global Legal Counsel will serve as a key trusted advisor to Thom Browne’s leadership team, providing strategic and practical legal guidance across a broad range of matters.

This is a highly visible and multifaceted role with responsibilities spanning corporate governance, commercial contracting, compliance, intellectual property, and general legal affairs. While the majority of the legal activity supports the US Corporate, the position also provides oversight, guidance, and coordination on legal matters impacting Thom Browne’s global operations.

The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leadership to support business growth, protect the company’s interests, strengthen governance practices, and ensure effective risk management across the organization. Operating in a lean and dynamic environment, this individual will manage a wide range of legal matters directly while coordinating specialized external counsel when appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for Thom Browne US while maintaining visibility and oversight of legal matters affecting international operations.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor, supplier, manufacturing, distribution, licensing, technology, marketing, influencer, partnership, and service contracts.
• Provide day-to-day legal counsel and practical business-oriented guidance to stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Marketing, Retail, Wholesale, and Commercial functions.
• Advise senior leadership on legal, regulatory, governance, employment, and business risk matters, delivering commercially balanced recommendations.
• Support corporate governance activities, including entity management, corporate record maintenance, board and shareholder matters, and coordination with external advisors.
• Coordinate intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright protection, brand enforcement initiatives, anti-counterfeiting efforts, and management of external IP counsel.
• Support compliance initiatives and legal policies across the organization, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop, maintain, and improve legal templates, playbooks, policies, and processes to create scalable and efficient legal support.
• Identify legal risks and proactively recommend solutions that support business objectives while protecting the company’s interests.
• Manage relationships with external law firms and specialized advisors, overseeing legal spend and determining the most effective allocation of internal and external resources.
• Support strategic projects, international business initiatives, organizational developments, and corporate transactions as required.
• Partner with the CEO, senior leadership team, and Group General Counsel to strengthen the company’s legal and governance framework and support the business’s continued growth.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm experience with in-house legal counsel responsibilities.
• Previous experience within the fashion, luxury, retail, consumer products, or lifestyle sectors strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise across corporate governance, commercial contracting, compliance, intellectual property coordination, and legal support for multinational organizations.
• Experience supporting international operations and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical and actionable advice.
• Proven ability to operate independently in a lean legal environment while effectively managing external counsel and advisors.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly collaborative environment.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

• Competitive compensation. Salary Range is $120,000 to 135,000 plus target bonus. Please note that compensation will be offered based on relevant skills and experience
