We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for our team in Charleston, South Carolina. This role will oversee key close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and strengthen day-to-day accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to manage reconciliations, entries, and ledger activity with confidence.
Responsibilities:• Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and ensuring deadlines are met accurately.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording and validating financial activity across assigned accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support and a high degree of accuracy.
• Complete account reconciliations regularly to identify variances, resolve discrepancies, and support reliable reporting.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Track and reconcile prepaid expenses while ensuring proper amortization and classification.
• Review accounting records for completeness and consistency to support compliant financial statements.
• Use QuickBooks Online to manage transactions, maintain records, and assist with reporting needs.
- Demonstrated experience in senior-level accounting work with ownership of month-end close processes.
- CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger management and financial statement support.
- Proven ability to prepare journal entries and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Hands-on experience with account reconciliations and resolution of balance discrepancies.
- Proficiency in completing bank reconciliations with close attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of prepaid expense accounting and related schedules.
- Experience using QuickBooks Online in an accounting environment that requires accuracy and attention to detail.
