About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: 36 or 48-hour option available. 13 or 26-week contract option also available. Travelers are expected to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the facility. This is an inpatient care unit designed to test and validate new models of care and innovative technology. There are 17 patient rooms divided into zones to test various room designs, equipment, or processes. The primary patient population consists of adult medical-surgical patients. Future plans include transitioning into an adaptable care model encompassing medical-surgical and progressive care levels. The unit does not care for labor and delivery or pediatrics. The facility practices a primary nursing care model with 1 RN assigned to a group of patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Current projects include virtual nursing, virtual sitter, ambient monitoring, and an interactive patient experience platform. Patients include those requiring continuous ECG monitoring, as well as those with acute or chronic pulmonary and kidney diseases. The unit also cares for patients with infections, gastrointestinal disorders, and fluid and electrolyte imbalances. Special equipment and facility design variations include modular interior walls, ceiling lifts, and seamless tile. This is a nicotine-free facility. Weekend shifts consist of 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible during a 4-week period. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the winter holiday period. Requests for time off must be submitted with the application, and no locals are accepted. Pending licenses will be accepted if the license is in hand at the time of submission. Travelers are required to wear specified scrubs with a logo.
