Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: EPIC experience required Trauma level 2 or higher preferred Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential for the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing appropriate plans of care in alignment with unit standards and patient needs is required. The RN executes the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are made based on continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety involves reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others is necessary to resolve issues directly and privately when needed. Providing constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and conferring with colleagues to expand knowledge is encouraged. Identifying personal learning needs and taking the initiative to begin appropriate solutions is expected. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is necessary. Job functions specific to the Emergency Department include executing patient assessments and developing care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. The RN executes the care plan and nursing interventions while modifying the care plan based on continuous assessment. Ensuring patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions and adherence to safety standards is crucial. Collaboration and communication with staff, visitors, and families promote a healthy and healing work environment. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation is required.
