Position Summary As a Physical Therapist (PT), you will work in an outpatient setting to consult with, evaluate and treat patients of various ages and diagnoses. You will be expected to first and foremost provide effective individualized patient care. This includes recognizing the value of trust and rapport in the patient–clinician relationship to motivate and encourage our patients to do their best throughout each course of care. You will have the freedom to practice as a generalist, with additional opportunity to practice/participate in one of our specialty programs including but not limited to BPPV/Vertigo, Cancer Rehabilitation, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Golf Mechanics Assessment, Pelvic & Women’s Health and Teletherapy or work with us to develop a new program that fits your passion and skill. A successful PT at Renue would demonstrate patient‑centered care through communication, teamwork and compassion. They would also demonstrate integrity, character and honesty while being motivated and enthusiastic about maintaining an open friendly environment for our patients and team members. Essential Functions and Responsibilities This list is not inclusive; other duties may be assigned such as the key projects assigned by your manager, but will include the following: Consulting with patients to learn about their physical condition; assessing and interpreting patient evaluations and test results; developing treatment plans using a variety of treatment techniques based on age, specific cultural and rehabilitative needs in compliance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act. Develop rapport and trust with your patients to encourage and motivate them to do their best while undergoing physical therapy. Exercise independent judgement based on experience to direct and provide individualized effective patient care; communicate and coordinate with patients’ physicians as well as other members of health care team to ensure a consistent level of care; assist clients in exercises to minimize injury and promote fitness; monitor patient progress; modify exercises as needed for patients. Teach, supervise and counsel the patient and family regarding the recovery process, challenges to expect, home exercises injury prevention, ergonomics, ways to promote physical health and other care needs as appropriate to the patient’s condition. Utilize educational material as appropriate. Evaluate the use and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting and monitoring patient’s progress; and recommending adjustments and modifications. Adhere to applicable policies and procedures of company, Federal as well as Michigan state regulations. Provide thorough, timely, professional and consistent patient care documentation through the electronic medical record (EMR); evaluations, re‑evaluations, progress notes, daily notes and D/C summaries per company policies; documentation demonstrates minimal to no grammatical errors; documentation clearly indicates medical necessity and clinical progression towards completion of care. Contribute to success and growth of clinic through specialty programs and community outreach. Complete all requirements to maintain up to date physical therapy license including continuing education. Assist administrative staff with billing and reporting inquiries. Communicate positively, appropriately and in a timely fashion to all communications including patients, co‑workers, supervisors, physicians, etc. Direct and oversee services provided via PTA. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required: Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan and current CPR certification; Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy preferred (Masters and Bachelors accepted) from an accredited university/PT program. Preferred: A professional who has a passion to deliver great patient care and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Language Skills Communicate clearly and distinctly when answering phones. Communicate with people of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret professional level documents written using advanced medical terminology in English. Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise reports and correspondence at a professional level. Communicate fluently using Standard English. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Computer Skills Demonstrated experience using computer applications, including electronic medical records, word processing and email. To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Experience completing the patient care process including evaluation, assessment, intervention, re‑assessment, revision and outcomes reporting. Demonstrated proficiency finding, evaluating, interpreting and applying current patient care research literature. Experience analyzing subjective reports and quantitative data to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on that data. Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy. Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with supervisors, co‑workers, patients and the general public. Able to work independently with minimal guidance as part of a team. Capable of coordinating efforts and collaborating with a variety of individuals having conflicting agendas. Ability to establish and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
