The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) provides for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and maintains and enhances the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of City residents. The Office of Cityscape & Franchises oversees a wide range of programs related to the installation, operation, and management of various streetscape elements citywide. With the significant growth of the agency's Plaza and Open Street programs, as well as an increase in other concession opportunities on DOT's right-of-way, the Office is planning to rapidly expand its concession program. The Office is seeking two City Planners to assist with that effort. Specifically, the City Planner will assist with the planning, coordination and management of concessions (including concessions supporting the citywide Plaza and Open Streets programs), public toilet installations, franchises including historic ones, and other programs managed by the unit. In addition, the successful candidates will support the unit Director with contract management, program management, coordination and development of the unit's tracking database project, electronic file and database management in addition to community outreach, submissions to the Public Design Commission, Community Board presentations, communication and coordination with various Business Improvement Districts, other not-for-profit and private entities, and senior level staff. The candidates should have excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills.
