Site Reliability Engineer - Chicago

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus at least 2 years of applied experience for NAMR/APAC (India/LATAM/Hong Kong), advanced applied experience for EMEA/LATAM-Brazil, or local-country guided eligibility for Singapore.
• We need the ability to code in at least one programming language.
• We expect working knowledge of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in the work environment to support SRE workflows, such as troubleshooting support and runbook drafting, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
• We need the ability to evaluate AI-assisted operational recommendations for correctness and risk, applying the right controls to preserve resiliency, security, and auditability.
• We expect experience maintaining cloud-based infrastructure.
• We look for familiarity with site reliability concepts, principles, and practices.
• We look for familiarity with observability practices, including white-box and black-box monitoring, service level objective alerting, and telemetry collection.
• We need familiarity with containers or a common server operating system such as Linux or Windows.
• We value emerging knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery practices and the associated tooling.

• We independently execute small to medium-sized projects, then progress toward designing and delivering projects on our own.
• We use technology to solve business challenges by writing high-quality, maintainable, and resilient code in line with software engineering best practices.
• We use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within our work environment to accelerate incident triage, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis, while validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
• We triage, investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents, working with others to identify and address root causes.
• We identify toil in our role and proactively reduce it through systems engineering or application code improvements.
• We understand observability patterns and work to implement and enhance service level indicators, objective monitoring, and alerting solutions for better transparency and analysis.
• We apply enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to detect recurring toil and reliability risks from operational signals, prioritizing reuse-first improvements and measurable SLO outcomes.
