Associate Attorney

Primarily Remote | East Bay Office ~2x/Month | 1,650 Billable Hours | $140K–$200K+salary Our client, a well-respected East Bay litigation firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney who can independently manage civil litigation matters from strategy through resolution. The practice focuses primarily on business, real estate, and shareholder disputes. This is a primarily remote position with in-person attendance in the office approximately twice per month, as well as for hearings and other case-related needs. The firm offers significant autonomy, a collaborative environment, and a reasonable annual minimum billable-hours target of 1,650 hours. About the Role The ideal attorney has at least five years of civil litigation experience and is comfortable taking ownership of cases. The firm is open to attorneys with different combinations of substantive litigation experience, provided they have developed the judgment and skills to manage matters independently. Matters include shareholder and partnership disputes, complex business tort and contract claims, and real estate litigation, including lease, purchase/sale, and specific-performance disputes. Key Responsibilities Independently manage civil litigation matters and develop case strategy Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents Manage discovery and case deadlines Take and defend depositions, as appropriate Handle hearings, motion practice, and other court appearances Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties Prepare matters for mediation, settlement, and trial Qualifications 5+ years of civil litigation experience Ability to independently manage cases and litigation strategy Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and evidence Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Trial experience is preferred but not required Base salary of $140,000–$200,000, depending on experience, with potential flexibility for particularly experienced attorneys; bonus structure 1,650 annual minimum billable hours Primarily remote, with in-person attendance in East Bay office approximately twice per month, plus hearings and other case-related needs Collaborative, supportive working environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Barnes Pailhe King & Bennett Search
