Job Title: Parts Clerk Job Description
This role supports a busy branch operation by accurately processing parts orders, providing responsive customer service, and handling material movement within a modern, temperature-controlled facility. You will work closely with mechanics and sales staff to ensure customers receive the correct parts on time, while also contributing to general shop upkeep and inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities

• Assist customers with parts orders via phone and email, providing prompt, courteous, and accurate service.
• Look up and identify correct parts using mechanical drawings and related documentation.
• Receive purchase orders via email, pull the corresponding parts, and prepare orders for shipment.
• Place parts in appropriate packaging, box orders, and stage them for outbound shipment.
• Receive incoming pallets and verify contents against documentation.
• Operate a sit-down forklift to safely move pallets and products throughout the facility.
• Perform inventory counts and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock records.
• Load and unload pallets with parts for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Clean and wipe down parts to ensure they are presentable and ready for customer orders.
• Use computer systems to enter, update, and track orders, inventory, and shipping information.
• Apply strong attention to detail to ensure correct sizing, measurements, and part selection.
• Assist in the shop during downtime with general labor duties, including cleaning, sweeping, and taking out the trash.
• Collaborate with mechanics and sales team members to support branch operations and customer needs.

Essential Skills

• Proven forklift experience, including safe operation of a sit-down forklift.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate part identification, sizing, and measurement.
• Mechanical aptitude to interpret mechanical drawings and understand parts and components.
• Good computer knowledge and the ability to work with basic software and order-entry systems.
• Effective customer service skills and a professional, customer-oriented demeanor.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks such as cleaning and shop upkeep.
• Capability to handle physical tasks such as moving pallets and parts safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a parts clerk or in a similar parts-related role.
• Experience working in a warehouse, shop, or mechanical environment.
• Comfort working with mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Willingness to cross-train in other departments and learn new responsibilities.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple orders and tasks simultaneously.

Work Environment
This position is based in a branch office that supports a small team, including four mechanics and a sales professional. The facility is a modern, approximately three-year-old building that is fully paid for and designed for efficient operations. The work environment is temperature-controlled, providing a comfortable setting throughout the year. Standard hours are on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role involves regular use of a sit-down forklift, handling pallets, and working around shop and warehouse equipment. The setting combines office, parts counter, and shop areas, where collaboration with mechanics and sales staff is part of daily work. Appropriate safety footwear, such as steel-toe shoes or boots, is required to ensure safe operations in the shop and warehouse areas.

This is a Permanent position based out of Crown Point, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $45760.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
