Job Description
Lab Technician Position: Molecular Methods and Culturing in Microbial Ecology and Evolution. - Working with graduate and undergraduate students to maintain a lab space.
- Purchasing supplies and maintaining chemical and lab safety standards for the lab.
- Training students in molecular methods.
- Growing microbial cultures.
- Setting up ecological experiments with microbial cultures.
- Performing DNA/RNA extractions from cultures and environmental samples.
- Running established bioinformatics pipelines associated with sequencing data.
- Developing figures, writing drafts of abstracts and manuscripts.
- Undergraduate degree required, master's degree preferred, in molecular biology, genetics, genomics and bioinformatics, or related field.
- Knowledge of sterile technique, experience with microbial culturing and expertise in pipetting.
- Interest in training undergraduate students and performing benchwork is required.
