Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist

Client Overview: Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the local community. They are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their collaborative Finance team as the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist in a temp-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential. Salary/Hourly Rate: $30/hr Position Overview: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist to support the Finance department with high-volume accounts payable processing and general accounting functions. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone with strong AP experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a mission-driven organization. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist: Process high-volume accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently. Review, code, and enter invoices into the accounting system. Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents. Ensure timely vendor payments and resolve invoice discrepancies. Maintain organized AP records and supporting documentation. Assist with month-end closing activities and other accounting functions as needed. Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to resolve payment issues. Support the Controller and the Finance team with additional accounting projects. Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist: 3+ years of high-volume accounts payable experience. Experience with invoice coding and three-way matching. Strong understanding of accounts payable best practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar ERP system). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist: Bookkeeping experience with a strong focus on accounts payable. Previous experience working in a nonprofit organization. Staff accounting experience. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
