K9 Working Mind is looking for a dependable, hard-working person who is genuinely interested in dog care, behavior, and training .

This is a hands-on position. You will be walking and caring for dogs, cleaning kennels, feeding, assisting with training, interacting with clients, and helping keep the facility running smoothly. Some equine care will also be involved.

This is not a “hang out and play with dogs all day” position. Dogs are wonderful. They are also messy, loud, strong, and completely unconcerned about whether it is a weekend or holiday.

Current Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:00 AM–12:30 PM
Friday & Saturday – Split Shift: 8:00 AM–12:30 PM AND 4:00 PM–8:30 PM

Regular days off: Sunday, Tuesday 

Flexibility to cover additional shifts a bonus

Because animals require care 365 days a year, weekend and holiday availability is required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Feed, water, walk, exercise, and care for dogs
• Clean and disinfect kennels and indoor/outdoor animal areas
• Exercise dogs using our Working Walk technique
• Assist with training sessions and classes when requested
• Bathe dogs as needed
• Assist with some equine care
• Check clients and dogs in and out
• Maintain accurate kennel identification, personal belongings, and paperwork
• Help maintain a clean, organized facility
• Assist at occasional off-site events
• Treat every animal humanely and compassionately at all times
• Perform additional animal-care and facility duties as needed

YOU SHOULD BE

Dependable. Detail-oriented. Comfortable getting dirty. Able to follow directions. Good with both dogs AND humans.

You must also be able to:

• Safely handle and restrain dogs
• Work around dogs of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels
• Lift up to 60 pounds
• Work in a noisy, physically demanding kennel environment
• Read and follow written instructions, labels, and animal-care protocols
• Communicate professionally with clients and staff
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Arrive on time and reliably complete scheduled shifts
• Maintain a valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation

EXPERIENCE

Previous kennel, animal handling, pet care, or customer service experience is preferred.

Experience in dog training, grooming, pet sitting, veterinary assisting, or veterinary technician work is a plus, but not required.

What matters most is that you are dependable, willing to learn, comfortable doing physical work, and genuinely interested in learning about dogs.
