Manual Lathe Machinist

CNC Machinist Lathe Class I

We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator Engine Lathe Class I to join our manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with strong job shop experience who can independently set up and operate engine lathes while producing high-quality precision components.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed blueprints and work instructions
• Machine a wide variety of castings, bar stock, and fabricated parts
• Determine machining methods, tooling requirements, feeds, and speeds
• Perform complete machine setups, including alignment of irregular-shaped parts
• Select tooling and operation sequences based on materials and production requirements
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality
• Grind tool bits and make necessary tooling adjustments
• Maintain equipment by keeping machines clean and monitoring fluid levels
• Keep tooling organized and work area clean and safe
• Assist with training and mentoring new operators as needed
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of engine lathe operating experience in a job shop environment
• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to read blueprints and perform complex setups independently
• Experience using precision measuring instruments
• Must provide own hand tools required for the position
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment involving bending, stooping, twisting, and standing for extended periods

Shift Available: 1st Shift (7 am to 3:30 pm)
Pay: $28-$29 an hour based on experience and qualifications
