Area Manager - Inbound Operations

Location: Brownsburg, IN. Workplace Category: On‑site. Travel Required: Occasional. Direct Reports: Yes. Pay Range: $73,600 – $106,200 annually. Key Responsibilities Ensure the department achieves operations goals for safety, delivery, quality, and cost. Primary driver for continuous improvement projects in these areas. Serve as a channel for communication with Site Director and peers to ensure effective collaboration. Key member of the local management team with leadership span of control for approximately 150 hourly employees and 5 salary employees supporting a multi‑shift operation. Ensure adequate training plans are administered to meet business goals and generate continued developmental opportunities. Work to develop supervisor leadership capabilities and competencies. Help build an internal bench of talent with individuals that are poised and capable of growth. Maintain a flexible hourly workforce through effective cross‑training and workforce management techniques. Conduct timely performance reviews for salaried workforce. Encourage and ensure regular and consistent feedback from supervisory team to hourly associates. Prepare recommendations for annual expense budget and effectively manage once approved. Responsible for the execution and administration of the Health, Safety and Environmental annual plan developed by the leadership team. Prioritize safety above other operational goals. Administer capital spending plans for distribution and packaging equipment through project leadership. Communicate with sister plants and outside vendors regarding distribution and packaging issues and drive corrective actions. Recommend staffing and overtime plans to manager and execute to match changes in forecasted demand. Responsible for overseeing capacity planning for the growth and efficiency of the department. Work with SIOP and planning to adhere to forecasted schedule. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field. Strong cross‑functional team leadership, communication, and project management skills. Minimum 5 years of prior experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment in roles of increasing responsibility, scope & authority. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated experience in leading both salaried and hourly teams across multiple shifts. Minimum of 3 years prior supervisory experience in a distribution center or closely related operation. Thorough knowledge of ISO requirements, processes, and procedures. Demonstrated application knowledge for WMS or ERP systems; preferred background with Manhattan Associates WMA. Functional software knowledge for Microsoft Access, Power BI, and related analytics tools. Working knowledge of WMS software package including WM. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
