Family Based Clinician II

UPMC Western Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Based Clinician II to provide intensive, family-centered mental health services to families navigating emotional and behavioral challenges!

Our Family Based Mental Health Services (FBMHS) program is recognized as one of the highest levels of outpatient care available, delivering comprehensive support directly in the home and community to help families build stability, resilience, and lasting success.

As a Family Based Clinician II , you will serve as a senior member of the treatment team, providing specialized mental health interventions with a strong focus on family therapy, crisis intervention, advocacy, and skill development. Key Information: 

• Schedule : Full-time, Monday-Friday, non-traditional hours that can include mornings, afternoons and evenings. 

• Location : Quantum Building, Southside, Pittsburgh, 15203 (Home Office)

  • This position will require work throughout Allegheny County 

• Must have reliable transportation & a valid driver's license and car insurance

  • Milage is reimbursed for travel within the community

• Dress Code : Smart Casual

• Parking : Street parking at home office location. 

Responsibilities:

 

• Provide intensive home & community based mental health services, crisis intervention, and family support for children and adolescents at risk of higher levels of care. 
• Implement individualized treatment and behavioral intervention plans in partnership with families, schools, and multidisciplinary treatment teams. 
• Utilize evidence-based approached including Structural Family Therapy, CBT, Parent Management Training, and Applied Behavior Analysis strategies. 
• Serve as a team leader and mentor, providing clinical oversight, documentation review and support to junior clinicians. 
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, monitor client progress, and communicate significant changes to supervisors and treatment team members. 
• Participate in trainings, supervision, treatment team meetings, and interagency collaboration to support quality care and positive client outcomes. 

• Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling AND one year of experience in a Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) working in family services, crisis intervention, parent management and behavioral intervention models 
• OR Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling AND three years of experience in a Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) working in family services, crisis intervention, parent management and behavioral intervention models and certificate of completion of Family Based Training required. 
• Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.  
• Experience working with children / adolescents with severe psychiatric illness is preferred . 
• Knowledge of CASSP principles. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). 
• Ability to function effectively as part of a treatment team, work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ability to utilize and seek supervision. 
• Ability to develop effective working relationship with professional team, parents, schools, CYS and JPO systems. 
• May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
