Marketing and Publicity Assistant

Apollo Publishers is seeking a sharp, media-savvy, and highly motivated Marketing and Publicity Assistant to help increase the visibility of our books, authors, and brand. This is an opportunity to work closely with the publisher at a boutique nonfiction house and play a meaningful role in shaping how our titles enter the cultural conversation across media, retail, and digital platforms. We’re looking for someone who reads widely, thinks creatively about media and audiences, and is eager to build campaigns that cut through. The right candidate is organized, proactive, and excited to take ownership in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Manhattan. What You’ll Do: Build and execute pre- and post-publication marketing and publicity campaigns Write press materials, pitch letters, and other outward-facing copy Research and develop targeted media and influencer lists Pitch media across platforms (print, digital, broadcast, and social) Plan and execute author events, signings, and appearances Partner with authors to shape their platforms and outreach strategies Manage Apollo’s social media presence and campaigns Support digital marketing and advertising initiatives Create and oversee marketing materials (e-blasts, postcards, assets) Contribute to ongoing promotion of backlist titles Represent Apollo at events, launches, and in the marketplace What We’re Looking For: 2–4 years of experience in marketing, publicity, or social media (publishing or media preferred) Exceptional writing and communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail A self-starter who is comfortable managing multiple projects at once Cultural awareness: a strong sense of media, trends, and how books break through Professionalism, good judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Comfort with digital tools and platforms; familiarity with Cision, Edelweiss, BookScan, Canva, and email marketing platforms a plus Why This Role This is not a purely support role. You will have real ownership over campaigns and direct exposure to authors, media, and strategy.
