Patient Scheduling & Financial Services Representative (Entry Level)

Position Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Scheduling & Financial Services Representative to support patient access, scheduling, and insurance-related services in a clinical healthcare environment. This role is primarily phone- and email-based, with no in-person patient contact , and plays a key role in ensuring accurate registration, timely scheduling, and clear communication regarding insurance and billing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and verify patient insurance information, referral forms, and required documentation
• Counsel patients over the phone on insurance coverage, billing processes, and available financial assistance options
• Schedule and register patients via phone and email, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information
• Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to coordinate urgent and referred scheduling requests
• Review and update provider schedules for new patients and make adjustments as needed
• Contact patients with appointment reminders and ensure required insurance and referral documentation is received
• Process internal physician referrals for clinical care
• Explain billing processes to patients and respond to inquiries from patients and third-party payers
• Assist with basic account maintenance and support staff with billing-related questions
• Support reminder systems by contacting patients and making scheduling updates or changes
• Make temporary scheduling template edits based on physician input
• Assist with reminder cards and other administrative scheduling duties

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of insurance processes and financial options
• Ability to explain billing and insurance information clearly and professionally
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams

Experience Level

• Prior experience in patient services, healthcare scheduling, or insurance support preferred but not required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Saint Louis,MO.
