Powertrain Mechanical Engineer, Battery Overview Responsibilities Design components, subassemblies, and systems Perform analysis (models/simulation) to support design decisions Plan/execute development tests to support design decisions Work with external vendors and internal manufacturing/fabrication teams to build hardware Work with the testing team to support verification testing of hardware Required B.S. or higher in mechanical engineering 2+ years of industry work experience; preferably “full-stack” with exposure to test, design, equipment/component selection, hands-on builds, bring-up and troubleshooting (can include internships, university clubs, team programs, and full-time positions) Proficiency with professional 3D modeling software, preferably with Catia 3D Experience Proficiency in mechanical design, materials selection, kinematics, and analysis Excellent problem solving and communication skills Strong analytical background – able to use first principles to drive/inform design Desired M.S./Ph.D. in a relevant field of study 5+ years of working experience in automotive or aerospace industry Experience with Dassault Systemes CAD, specifically using generative shape design, part design, and assembly design Experience with finite element tools (Abaqus) Direct battery engineering experience Compensation & Benefits Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $96,200 - $160,000/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
