Controls Technician - Roanoke, VA

Responsibilities Install (commissioning), troubleshoot, repair and program environmental control systems. Apply knowledge of electronics (board‑level troubleshooting), direct digital controls, airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory, and building control techniques. Conduct end‑to‑end testing, programming, startup, commissioning and servicing on assigned projects. Set up graphical interface and network connections for controls. Serve as direct customer contact, ensuring satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems on site. Coordinate with team leader and customer to understand installation and repair requirements, examine building layouts, forecast issues, gather materials and synchronize on‑site work. Use hand tools and interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications to mount, assemble, test, and program the system. Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements and modifications as needed or requested by customers. Maintain inventory, company equipment, and document all related activities. Keep current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems. Enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company assets. Display flexibility to work overtime, nights, and occasional overnight stays as business requires. Compensation Hourly base pay range: $21.89 – $40.34. Incentive eligible: No. Sales commission eligible: No. Compensation varies by seniority, merit, location, education, experience, travel, and union designation.
