Accounting Supervisor

A growing, mid-sized insurance and risk management platform is building out its accounting function under new executive leadership. This is an opportunity to step into a team being scaled with purpose, adding depth in insurance accounting, strengthening close and reporting processes, and establishing a scalable structure. This role is well-suited for someone who can balance execution with leadership, owning core accounting responsibilities while overseeing and developing a small team. Responsibilities Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and month-end close Support regulatory and financial reporting requirements, including insurance-related reporting Partner cross-functionally across finance, operations, and risk/reinsurance functions Drive improvements across close, reporting, and internal controls Support audit processes and external reporting deliverables Manage, mentor, and develop a team of ~5 accounting staff Qualifications ~5+ years of accounting experience within P&C insurance Experience supporting regulated reporting environments (statutory, compliance) Prior leadership experience OR strong background in mentorship, review, and training Experience reviewing work, guiding junior staff, and improving processes Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field (preferred) CPA or progress toward certification (preferred) Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools (Dynamics GP or similar is helpful) Ability to operate effectively in a changing / build-phase environment Hybrid: typically 2 days/week in office Office located in the western suburbs of Chicago High degree of flexibility and autonomy $100K–$110K + ~10% bonus 401(k) with 5%–5.5% company match $1,750 HSA contribution Why This Role Direct exposure to CFO and evolving leadership team Visible team leadership role (5 direct reports) with path to Controller Opportunity to help rebuild and stabilize a growing accounting function Strong benefits + flexible hybrid model Platform in growth mode within a regulated financial services environment Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled #J-18808-Ljbffr
