We are invested in the success of our teams and the individuals who represent Stanford University Libraries.About Technical and Access Services:The Technical and Access Services division within Stanford University Libraries consists of five departments: Access Services, Acquisitions and Collection Services, Metadata Services, Preservation, and Remote Storage. With both patron-facing and back-office responsibilities, these departments function interdependently and collaborate to ensure access to library resources in a variety of formats and languages. Over 120 staff members acquire, describe, preserve, and provide access to all types of library materials. We work in Palo Alto, Redwood City, Livermore, and remotely across the country. About the Position:Reporting to the AUL for Technical and Access Services, the Technical and Access Services Project Manager will manage a wide range of complex projects and may manage more than one large project simultaneously. Projects will involve multiple departments within Technical and Access Services and may include stakeholders from other library divisions. The Project Manager will collaborate with senior management and department leadership to select and define projects that support divisional priorities. Projects include the design and implementation of new or updated services as well as process improvements to enhance divisional impact and effectiveness.In coordination with others on any given project, develops metrics and KPIs appropriate for tracking and reporting progress. While most of the position is focused on project leadership, the Project Manager will also be a technical contributor in areas including assessment, business analysis, facilitation, and documentation.Approved budgeted annual salary not to exceed: $183,098 per annumCore Duties:Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus.Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success.These elements typically delineate the project management involved at this level: charter origination or scope identification and shaping, scope definition; # of disciplines /stakeholders to manage is across-university impact, and city, county constituents; risk-manage, control and report on risk associated with more complicated projects, affecting division or program as it relates to their project portfolio and risk sharing and control is skewed further to the project manager; project complexity involves synthesizing complex technical data and driving decisions; primary university relationship is at the senior associate/administrative dean, faculty and directors level; typical cumulative budget/scope from $250k to $1 million.Minimum Education:Bachelor's degree in a related fieldMinimum Experience:Five years of related experience in management of projects with extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or a combination of education and experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Highly effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.Ability to balance customer expectations with project reality.Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.Full timePosting Date: 2026-10-06
