LPN - Medical Oncology Care

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and skilled nursing care in a medical oncology setting. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will deliver direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical competence and adhering to professional ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
- Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to support positive health outcomes.
- Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and ensure safety, communicating findings effectively to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or shift managers to meet patient needs and maintain high standards of care.
- Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality measures.
- Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability within the care environment.
- Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to improve the overall patient experience.
- Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Current LPN license valid in the state or through compact licensure.
- Graduate Practical Nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Physical and Mental Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching. Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is expected, along with occasional encounters with challenging individuals.
