Children’s Events & Programs | The Nanny Loft®

Location: Lehigh Valley, PA and surrounding areas
Compensation: $21–$50 per hour, depending on the assignment

WHAT THE ROLE IS

What if working with children looked a little different every time?

One weekend, you might help children enjoy themselves while their parents celebrate at a wedding. Another day, you might lead games at a birthday party, support young entrepreneurs at a Children’s Business Fair, or help with an after-school program.

We’re building a team of dependable, creative people who enjoy working with children and want flexible opportunities to care, teach, and lead. You don’t need to do every kind of assignment. Tell us what you do well, and we’ll consider you for opportunities that fit your experience, qualifications, interests, and availability.

Some assignments are occasional or event-based; others may involve recurring programs. Location, duration, responsibilities, age groups, and the number of children may vary.

WHERE YOU MIGHT MAKE AN IMPACT

• Provide childcare during weddings, private events, and community programs.
• Lead games, crafts, movement, and activities at birthday parties and family events.
• Support children and young entrepreneurs at our Children’s Business Fair.
• Help with after-school or childcare-center programs.
• Welcome children, help them settle in, and follow check-in and authorized pickup procedures when required.
• Serve as a lead caregiver, program facilitator, or event team lead when your experience and the assignment call for it.
• Teach or assist with Safe Sitter® courses when appropriately qualified and authorized.
• Represent The Nanny Loft® professionally with families, venues, and community partners.

WHAT YOU MAY DO

Responsibilities depend on the assignment and the ages of the children. They may include:

• Provide safe, attentive, and nurturing supervision for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, or mixed-age groups.
• Support diapering, toileting, feeding, bottles, snacks, naps, and other age-appropriate routines when required.
• Lead play, crafts, games, educational activities, and approved curriculum.
• Set up and clean up children’s activity areas.
• Guide groups of children using positive, age-appropriate approaches.
• Follow family instructions and event or program procedures.
• Communicate professionally with parents, partners, venue staff, and The Nanny Loft® team.
• Monitor attendance and follow check-in, check-out, and authorized pickup procedures when required.
• Respond appropriately to children’s emotional, behavioral, and physical needs.
• Follow applicable allergy, medication, emergency, and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, child-safe environment and adapt when event needs change.

Not every team member performs every duty. Assignments are based on qualifications, experience, training, and the needs of each event or program.

WHO YOU ARE

You know how to connect with children and make an activity feel welcoming. You can be playful while staying calm, attentive, and responsible. You’re comfortable meeting new families and teammates, communicating clearly, showing up prepared, and following through.

Experience as a nanny, babysitter, teacher, student teacher, early childhood educator, camp counselor, youth-program leader, or activity facilitator may be a great fit. You do not need to be an instructor to join the team.

INTERESTED IN TEACHING?

Qualified team members may have opportunities to teach or assist with community education programs, including Safe Sitter® courses. Teaching assignments require the training, authorization, certification, and other qualifications applicable to the specific curriculum or program.

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULING

$21–$50 per hour. The rate varies by assignment, experience, qualifications, responsibilities, leadership expectations, and type of event or program. Event childcare, program support, lead assignments, facilitation, and qualified instructional work may have different rates within the advertised range.

Being hired or accepted onto the team does not guarantee a particular hourly rate, number of assignments, or number of hours.

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements vary by assignment. Depending on the opportunity, team members may need to:

• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Have relevant childcare, teaching, youth-program, educational, or related experience for the assignment.
• Have infant-care experience when assigned to care for infants.
• Maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification and Mandated Reporter Training when required.
• Maintain current Car Seat Safety Training when transportation responsibilities require it.
• Complete comprehensive background screening and required clearances.
• Have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation when required.
• Safely perform assigned duties, which may include lifting up to 50 pounds, floor-level play, extended standing, moving supplies, and responding quickly when necessary.
• Know child development, infant safety, and safe-sleep practices when applicable.
• Have a physical examination completed within the last 12 months and submit a completed Pennsylvania Child Care Staff Health Assessment Form (CD-322).
• Provide proof of required vaccinations when applicable to the position or assignment.
• Demonstrate strong communication, organization, judgment, reliability, and problem-solving skills.
• Communicate effectively in English when required for the assignment.
• Follow The Nanny Loft® policies, partner-site requirements, family instructions, and applicable safety procedures.

Additional experience, certifications, clearances, training, health documentation, or program-specific qualifications may be required for particular assignments.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND RESOURCES

Depending on the assignment, required training and certifications may include:

1. Mandated Reporter Training
2. Car Seat Safety Training
3. Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification
   Certification must be current and satisfy the requirements of the assignment.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT

A physical exam completed within the last 12 months is required. Candidates must submit a completed Pennsylvania Child Care Staff Health Assessment Form (CD-322). Download the form HERE
