Job Title

Registered Nurse – ICU (Travel Contract)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts | 19:00–07:30

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in an ICU setting with patient ratios of 1:2–3, managing complex patient populations including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients
• Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia and emergency management
• Perform and interpret neurological assessments including care of patients with EVDs and post-neurosurgical needs; apply NIHSS assessment skills
• Float to Stepdown Unit as needed; may also be floated to ED or MedSurg to care for ICU-level patients being held in those units
• Complete required pre-start modules and comply with facility orientation requirements including EKG testing with a minimum passing score of 80%

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or valid Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Strong neurological nursing experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke care
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records — no exceptions
• No prior license or background hits; facility will not consider any history of license or background issues
• Must pass facility EKG test with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt, no remediation); must be able to accommodate standard fit testing (PAPR not available)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
