Controller
AVI Roofing, Inc.
Job description:
Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting and financial operations of AVI Roofing and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of financial reporting, monthly close, cash management, compliance, and project accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the construction industry, including percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, project-based financial reporting, work-in-process (WIP) analysis, cash flow management, and operational finance. This is a highly hands-on role that requires an individual who can independently manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities while also providing leadership, financial oversight, and business partnership across the organization.
The Controller is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, exercise sound professional judgment, and proactively identify opportunities to improve financial performance, reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational efficiency.

- Monitor project performance and identify risks related to margins, contract billing, collections, and cost overruns.
- Recommend and implement improvements to project accounting processes and reporting.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Lead all cash management activities, including daily cash positioning, liquidity management, and working capital planning.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor borrowing needs, banking relationships, and covenant compliance, as applicable.
- Provide executive leadership with visibility into cash flow trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Drive initiatives that improve cash conversion and overall working capital performance.

- Monitor purchasing controls and vendor compliance requirements.
- Evaluate opportunities to improve payment processes, controls, and efficiencies.
Internal Controls, Systems & Process Improvement
- Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls across accounting and finance functions.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and reporting capabilities.
- Lead financial system optimization efforts, including ERP implementations, upgrades, and reporting enhancements.
- Ensure accounting processes support company growth while maintaining strong financial controls.
- Develop and maintain documentation for accounting procedures and internal controls.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Provide leadership, training, and oversight to accounting and administrative staff.
- Serve as the primary accounting resource for operational leaders and executive management.
