Job Description
This role combines hands-on press brake operation with CNC machining in a fast-paced, family-owned job shop. You will set up, run, and tear down CNC press brakes and CNC lathes and mills, working directly from blueprints to produce high-quality parts to tight tolerances. Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and tear down CNC press brakes, including performing complete changeovers for different jobs in a job shop environment.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, layouts, and other technical drawings to produce parts accurately and efficiently.
• Operate CNC lathes and CNC mills, including performing tear downs, set ups, and changeovers to support varying production runs.
• Run parts efficiently off blueprints, including jobs that range from small batches to long production runs, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to specifications.
• Program at the machine or at a computer based on prints, adjusting programs and settings as needed to meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Work with tight tolerances, including tolerances down to approximately 0.05, and verify dimensions using appropriate measuring tools.
• Handle multiple jobs and machines as needed, including running one to four different parts per day and potentially operating two machines at the same time.
• Monitor machine performance and part quality throughout production, making adjustments to tooling, setups, and programs to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with other machinists and team members in a fast-paced, job shop environment to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
• Follow established quality management system procedures and shop standards to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, and adhere to all safety guidelines and shop policies.
• Support manufacturing for a variety of industries, including automotive and material handling, by producing components for racking systems, material handling equipment, and other industrial products.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating press brakes, including CNC press brake set ups and changeovers.
• Comfort working with CNC controls for press brakes and other CNC equipment.
• CNC lathe experience, including tear downs, set ups, and changeovers in a job shop environment.
• At least 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or machining environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and layouts accurately.
• Experience working to tight tolerances, including tolerances around 0.05.
• Hands-on machining experience with CNC machining processes such as lathe and mill operations.
• Ability to run jobs efficiently from blueprints, including both short-run and long-run production.
• Capability to program at the machine or from a computer based on prints, adjusting programs as needed for production.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced job shop environment with varying parts and production volumes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with HAAS CNC machines and controls is preferred.
• Experience with Mazak controls is preferred.
• Experience with CNC mills and CNC lathes beyond press brake operation.
• Experience with CNC punch and CNC punch press equipment.
• Familiarity with quality management systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Trade school certification or formal technical training in machining or a related field.
• Programming experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and GibbsCAM or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to handle multiple machines or jobs simultaneously while maintaining quality and safety.
• Experience working in a job shop that serves automotive and other industrial customers.

Work Environment
This position is based in a job shop environment that supports the automotive industry and other major industrial customers, producing items such as racking systems, material handling components, and related equipment. The machine room is climate controlled to maintain stable temperatures for precision equipment and to provide a comfortable working environment. You will work alongside other machinists in a setting that is easygoing yet fast paced, with frequent changeovers and a variety of parts and jobs each day.
The standard schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Saturday hours from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. as needed. Typical work may include programming at the machine or at a computer from a print, running anywhere from one to four different parts per day, handling production runs that range from short batches of around 100 pieces to single parts that run for multiple days, and potentially operating two machines at the same time. The dress code includes jeans, a shirt, and steel-toe footwear, with a uniform provided once you are brought on directly. The shop uses modern CNC equipment, including HAAS and Mazak controls, and operates under a defined quality management system to ensure consistent, high-quality production.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00/hr.
