ICU Registered Nurse

ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in ICU required License: Valid State Compact License required Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required Must-Have: Prior ICU experience required Competent in the care of critically ill adult patients Comfortable working in a critical access hospital environment Description: The position requires an ICU Registered Nurse. The nurse will function as a bedside ICU nurse. Charge Nurse responsibilities will not be assigned to agency staff. The unit operates with a unified Charge Nurse model. Patients will be assigned to ICU-competent nurses. In low census situations, the nurse may assist on the Med-Surg unit. The nurse may accept a limited assignment of 1-2 Med-Surg patients. Assistance with patient care activities may also be required. Agency staff will not be assigned a full Med-Surg patient load. The nurse must maintain competency in critical care. Patient-to-nurse ratios in the ICU will range from 1:2 to 1:3, depending on acuity. Weekends will be required with 6 weekend shifts per schedule period. No call is required for this position. The assigned nurse must be able to function as a fully independent staff nurse. Broad clinical competency is essential, as care is provided to patients of all ages. The nurse must be capable of assuming Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed. Special equipment usage is required depending on the patient care needs. Compliance with all facility policies and procedures is expected. This position is suitable for nurses who are flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances in clinical settings.
