Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a CA RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Job Details

• Small 8-bed ICU in an acute care hospital with Trauma Level 3 designation,
• Average census of 3-4 patients with 1:1-2 nurse-to-patient ratios,
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, medical-surgical cases, DKA, CHF, and COPD,
• Cardiac cath patients are transferred out as the facility lacks a cath lab,
• Most patients are borderline stepdown level of care,
• RNs required to titrate drips including Levophed, heparin, insulin, and dopamine,
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment,
• No nurse aides on the unit, but a unit clerk is available,
• Hospitalist in house 24/7 with tele-intensivist support also available 24/7,
• Respiratory therapist in ICU 24/7 and takes a patient assignment,
• RT equipment includes Via and Hamilton ventilators,
• Phillips telemetry monitors with central monitoring tech support,
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, with self-scheduling to some degree,
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 4 shifts in 4 weeks,
• Holiday coverage follows permanent staff rotation,
• On-call is optional, not required,
• Floating would rarely occur, but if needed would be to med-surg (1:5 ratio), peds (1:4, if qualified), or ER (if qualified),
• Uses Cerner EMR,

Job Requirements

• Active CA RN license required,
• BLS and ACLS certification required,
• Dysrhythmia certification through AHA required (online course and exam accepted),
• PALS and TNCC certifications preferred,
• 2-5 years of ICU specialty experience required,
• Experience working in a smaller ICU setting required,
• Cerner EMR experience preferred,
• Must provide a copy of driver's license for consideration,

• Strong team player mentality required to fit into unit dynamics,
• Navy blue scrubs required,
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts,
