Construction Manager II/III (Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Industrial) - Traveling

Description Construction Managers are Dennis Group’s project site supervisors that oversee the daily operations of the construction activities including coordination of sub‑contractors, site safety programs, project schedule, and project budget. Our projects are designing and building food and beverage process facilities (industrial / MEP projects). This involves coordination with multiple engineering groups and designers/architects. The construction manager is a skilled communicator, able to interact with all levels of personnel, coordinate and facilitate meetings, and has strong technical skills to function with multiple software programs. The Construction Manager ensures project progression by providing attention and coordination in both field and office construction management tasks. The role functions include contract administration, project planning and scheduling, project reporting, and an advisory role to project management issues and activities. Site Supervisory Responsibilities Daily supervision of construction activities including coordination of subcontractors and site safety programs When directed, oversee/supervision of any assigned field engineers or Jr Construction Managers Responsibilities Work autonomously on overseeing medium‑size projects Work with project management on developing and updating project scope, budget, and schedule Perform project accounting, budgeting, and cost management Establish and maintain site safety procedures with our safety team Oversee process, mechanical, and utility equipment installations Manage permitting, code, and regulatory administration and approval Administer change orders and general construction administration Coordinate field engineering Coordinate inspections Manage third‑party testing, inspections, and relationships Research construction management best practices Serve as a client‑facing representative and work collaboratively with owners, subcontractors, building officials, and our A/E team Prepare and administer third‑party agreements Conduct job‑site walks/audits to ensure the project is progressing and subcontractors are following plans per the schedule Procure project services and equipment (rentals, PPE, etc.) Support and coordinate facility startup Prepare and maintain project reports and logs Work with subcontractors to ensure schedule compliance and determine alternative resources or options Review and maintain submittals, RFIs, and change orders Work with Project Controllers and Project Manager on supplier invoices and client billing Perform engineering calculations Prepare permit applications Assist in preparing work plans and work packages Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews Manage project punch‑list inspections Promote continuous and productive communication between project participants, including internal and external clients and partners Coordinate project close‑out activities Fulfill safety responsibilities in various capacities Support talent growth within our organization Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor Other tasks as assigned Required Education, Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred Design‑build experience on industrial projects is strongly preferred Experience overseeing subcontractors and driving the project schedule Client interaction experience with strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills Progressive responsibility in on‑site experience on industrial building projects Fundamental understanding of all phases of construction and the ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and budgets Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus Ability to meet travel requirements – up to 100% travel to projects throughout the USA and possible Canada Willingness to work a 10‑day onsite, 4‑day off schedule Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and prolonged periods standing and walking around the project site with uneven surfaces Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the job site in all types of weather, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers Availability to be on call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the job site Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times Travel Requirement Projects are located throughout the United States and Canada. This is a site‑based position with a 10‑day onsite / 4‑day off schedule. Projects typically last from 6 to 12+ months. Meal and lodging per diems are provided, along with reasonable travel provisions. Up to 100% overnight travel is required based on project needs.
