Autism Specialist
Support children in learning, growing, and reaching their potential. At the Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning, Autism Specialists help children and adolescents with autism build communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
This role is about more than teaching skills — it's about building relationships, encouraging confidence, and helping children succeed through individualized, compassionate care. Autism Specialists work closely with families and interdisciplinary teams to create meaningful learning experiences that support each child's unique strengths and goals.

Pay: Range starts at $20/hour (pay is calculated based on years of related experience)
Schedule: Mon-Fri | 8am-5pm

Depending on your medical plan selection, you may also contribute pre-tax dollars to a Health Savings Account (HSA), with a company match of up to $900 for individuals and $1,800 for families.
- Retirement Our 401(k) plan accepts both pre-tax and Roth (post-tax) contributions and includes a company match of up to 6% of your annual salary.

Job Summary & Deliverables
The Autism Specialist provides developmental and educational services to children and adolescents with autism in a clinical setting or the home environment.
Essential Functions
- Designs individualized programs for children and adolescents with autism to increase and develop social, communication, and behavioral skills
- Provides services within the assigned treatment setting - clinical setting or the client's home. Homebased treatment assignments require access to reliable transportation.
- Designs specialized programs and teaching procedures for individual or small groups of clients to develop academic knowledge and ability through the application of behavioral techniques and procedures
- Charts the progress of assigned clients through weekly progress notes to ensure the ongoing evaluation of each client's strengths and opportunities
- Monitors progress notes and related data to ensure the proper implementation of individualized behavior change programs
- Reviews current research on autism, understands behavioral modification theories and applies appropriate techniques
- Completes various administrative tasks and meets deadlines for submission to ensure timely and accurate data collection for electronic health record systems
Requirements
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Three months of experience as an Autism Assistant or six months of direct client care experience
Licenses/Certifications
- CPR certification Valley de-escalation certification
- Driving positions require a minimum age of 21 and a current driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience working with individuals with autism
