The Beckley VA Medical Center is seeking a *General Cardiologist* to join a mission-driven team where your work makes a real difference in the lives of our nation's Veterans. Provide inpatient cardiology care in a supportive, collegial environment. You'll work alongside *Hospitalists* managing complex cases, covering a *13-bed inpatient unit and 5-bed ICU*, while also performing *stress testing, interpreting echocardiograms*, and contributing to outpatient clinic services. *1. Preventive Cardiology* - Risk assessment (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, family history) - Lifestyle modification counseling (diet, exercise, smoking cessation) * 2. Diagnostic Evaluation* - Physical examination and history review for cardiac symptoms (chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, syncope) - Interpretation of diagnostic tests: - Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) - Echocardiography - Stress testing (exercise, pharmacologic) - Holter monitor and event recorders - Cardiac CT, MRI (often coordinated with subspecialists) *3. Management of Common Cardiovascular Diseases* - Coronary artery disease (stable/unstable angina, myocardial infarction-post-acute management) - Heart failure - Arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias) - Hypertension - Hyperlipidemia - Valvular heart disease (aortic, mitral, tricuspid) - Cardiomyopathies *4.
