EHS & Compliance Manager

About the role As an EHS and Compliance Manager, this individual will lead the environmental, health, and safety organization on site through the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective management systems. The role provides technical advice and assistance to Site Engineering and EHS Director, Site Leadership Team, managers, and staff to enable EHS performance to be managed effectively, contributing toward achieving the Manufacturing site vision. The Manager encourages, promotes, and monitors the highest levels of EHS performance in line with regulatory and corporate requirements, protecting all employees at the site by implementing strategies and solutions to minimize exposure to harmful elements and conditions. The site follows all federal, state, and local regulations, including all Haleon related standards, applicable to air, water, soil, waste, and sustainability requirements. Role Responsibilities Monitor & report EHS performance, connecting shared lessons and good practices within the site and with all sites in the regional supply chains. Ensure that EHS site objectives are in place and aligned to the corporate EHS plan and priorities. Investigate EHS accidents and high potential incidents, identify and implement improved EHS practices, and champion the consideration of human factors and human reliability in proactive risk assessments and system design. Apply in‑depth knowledge of risk management methods to investigate adverse audit or inspection findings, determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions to close gaps and reduce EHS risks. Drive to improve the safety culture of the site, encouraging and rewarding safe behaviours, and actively engage with the site to ensure behavioural safety is central to operations. Employ in‑depth knowledge of Haleon policies, standards, and internal control framework to Subscribe these fundamentals into a site‑specific management system that holistically manages EHS risks. Manage the financial responsibility for the EHS department budget. Be knowledgeable in the preparation, implementation, and execution of crisis management processes, remaining calm and coaching others in such situations, ensuring effective business continuity and loss prevention plans are in place. Ensure an integrated, comprehensive approach is taken with environmental management to reduce contributions to Haleon’s overall environmental impact from the manufacturing site. Collaborate with Shared Services / Functions (Quality, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, HR, IT, Procurement, 3rd Party businesses, et al) to integrate EHS into the site strategy, risk mapping process, and site business continuity plans. Develop relationships and learn through collaboration among EHS professionals at other sites and areas, supporting good practice sharing and staff development in risk control. Ensure appropriate numbers of qualified and competent EHS staff are available to address compliance, hazards, and risks, supporting their continued development and succession planning. Implement a culture of “total disclosure” regarding EHS regulatory compliance, audit results, and incidents to ensure all of Haleon benefits from findings. Build and maintain strong trusting relationships with customers and stakeholders, demonstrating persuasive communication and ethical decision‑making aligned with Haleon’s values. Effectively lead and develop direct‑report EHS staff members. Adhere to all quality compliance standards (Data Integrity, ALCOA, cGMP, QA) and regulatory requirements, including QMS policy. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, and/or Occupational Safety (or other related specialization). Experience in managing EHS risks in FMCG, pharmaceuticals, or related high‑hazard sectors. Preferred Qualifications At least 6 years of experience in the EHS field. At least 2 years of experience managing a team. Master’s degree preferred. Membership in a relevant internationally recognized professional organisation (e.g., ASSP, AIHA). Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other related engineering certifications. Extensive knowledge of EHS requirements and regulations; formal education in these areas preferred. Knowledge of EHS tracking databases such as EHS One. Strong relationship‑building and networking skills to engage site personnel, senior management, EHS and regional leads. Location Lincoln, Nebraska. This is not a remote opportunity.
