Main Grade Lecturer - Performing Arts (Fixed Term) Application Deadline: 22 June 2026 Department: Digital, Media & Expressive Arts Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract Location: Liverpool Reporting To: Head of Digital, Media & Expressive Arts Compensation: £34,789 - £48,394 / year Description We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated educator to join the School of Digital, Media & Expressive Arts. You will become part of a team of highly qualified tutors who bring extensive professional experience and a shared passion for the performing arts. Together, we are committed to delivering excellence in teaching, learning, and creative practice. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across a range of levels within the performing arts curriculum. Design and implement engaging, inclusive, and innovative learning experiences that promote academic excellence and student development. Share up-to-date industry knowledge and practitioner expertise in areas such as devising, acting for camera, directing, technical theatre, and professional practice. Foster strong external links to create meaningful opportunities for students’ progression and industry engagement. Provide effective pastoral support, contributing to a cohesive and supportive learning environment that encourages personal growth, academic achievement, and career readiness. In addition, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and actively engage in the annual review. Remain aware of national developments in the subject area and update knowledge and skills annually. Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons to manage the learning process effectively. Use effective teaching techniques to engage and motivate students, encouraging independence and autonomy. Create a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident, and valued. Establish and maintain procedures that promote appropriate behaviour, communication, and respect, while challenging discriminatory behaviour and attitudes. Set and mark work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies, recording work and assessment. Track all students’ progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies. Provide a balanced range of teaching styles and learning experiences. Participate in assessment procedures and contribute to their implementation. Improve communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers. Liaise with the Head of School to contribute to programme design and teaching approaches that enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards. Assist in administration necessary to support teaching, learning, and assessment within the subject area. Collaborate with colleagues to address additional development needs in student English and Maths skills. Review professional development needs and participate in future training and development. Communicate and consult with parents, carers and students, including parent’s evening, welcome evenings, events and open evenings. Ensure compliance with College policies and procedures. Provide enrichment opportunities that are exciting, motivating and enhance the student experience. Professional Practice and Values Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring effective implementation across College life. Take a proactive approach to personal professional development, health & safety, and regulatory compliances (e.g. GDPR, DPA, safeguarding). Support cross‑college activities during key enrolment and invigilation periods. Carry out any other relevant duties as determined by the service needs and the grade. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential Educated to Level 6 (Degree or equivalent). A recognised teaching qualification or vocational experience. Excellent computer literacy – ability to use current IT programs of the College. Proven experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery in the performing arts sector. Knowledge and understanding of the performing arts provision. Engaged in continuing professional development. Minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to complete. High level of communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for oneself. Membership of a relevant professional body. Good understanding of curriculum development to meet employer training needs. Desirable Master’s level education. Professional qualification relevant to the subject area. Experience of resource-based learning. An ICT qualification. Experience assessing students’ needs and planning curriculum for their benefit, including technology-enhanced learning.
