Histo Technician- Pathology

Qualifications: High school graduate. Two years training in histochemistry and histologic technique. Certification as a Histotechnician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certification agency (acceptability of the certifying agency to be determined by the Administrative Director). Certification must be maintained during employment with Archbold Memorial Hospital. Continuing education and competency assessment mandatory during employment at AMH.

Responsibilities:

• The employee utilizes appropriate histology and cytology specimen processing technique. Demonstrates knowledge of fixative and reagent use, specimen grossing, processing, and embedding procedure.
• The employee utilizes appropriate microtomy technique. Demonstrates knowledge of microtomy skills and standard laboratory operating procedure for specimen sectioning.
• The employee utilizes appropriate histology and cytology staining technique. Demonstrates knowledge of routine, special, and immunohistochemical staining technique.
• The employee correctly utilizes histology and cytology procedural technique for equipment use and test procedures.
• The employee correctly performs instrument maintenance and/or quality control procedures and troubleshooting procedures.
• The quality of the work produced by the employee is of the highest quality and accuracy exhibited by.
• The employee demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the work performed.
• The employee demonstrates leadership skills within the department.
• The employee demonstrates problem-solving abilities as part of the expected work performance.
• The employee demonstrates appropriate clerical duties.

Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift, 7am-3:30pm; Rotating Weekends
